Several very different insects get called wasps, and how dangerous they are depends entirely on which one is on your eaves. Paper wasps build the open, umbrella-shaped comb you see under soffits and lanai roofs. They are the most common by far here, they defend the nest but are not aggressive away from it, and they are covered on every plan.
Yellowjackets are the ones to be careful with. They nest in ground cavities, wall voids and utility boxes rather than in the open, they forage aggressively around food and rubbish late in the season, and they can sting repeatedly. A yellowjacket nest inside a wall is genuinely not a do-it-yourself job.
Mud daubers are the long-waisted solitary wasps that build tube nests on walls. They are not colonial, they very rarely sting, and they stock their nests with spiders. Removing the nest is a cosmetic decision rather than a safety one, and we will tell you that rather than treat it as an emergency.

Wasp Nests Get Harder To Deal With As The Season Goes On
A nest founded in spring by a single queen is small and simple to remove. The same nest in late summer holds far more workers and defends itself far more vigorously.
Stings Repeat, Unlike Bees
Wasps do not lose their sting after use, so a defensive response means multiple stings rather than one. Yellowjackets in particular will pursue, and a disturbed ground nest can produce dozens of stings in seconds.
Colonies Grow Through The Season
Paper wasp nests start with one overwintered queen in spring and build through summer. A nest handled in April is a few cells and one insect. The same site in August is a mature colony, which is both harder to remove and more likely to defend itself.
Wall Void Nests Are A Different Problem
Yellowjackets nesting inside a wall cavity or soffit return cannot be knocked down. Sealing the entrance without treating first drives them inward, and they will chew through to interior drywall looking for a way out. That combination is how a yard problem becomes an indoor one.
They Nest Where You Reach
Paper wasps favour the underside of eaves, lanai framing, patio umbrellas, grill covers and door surrounds. The sting risk here is proximity rather than aggression, because nests sit exactly where hands and heads pass.

Identification
Open umbrella comb under an eave is a paper wasp and is covered on your plan. A stream of insects entering a hole in the ground, a wall or a soffit return is a yellowjacket and needs void treatment. A mud tube on a wall is a mud dauber and usually needs nothing at all.

Treatment
Paper wasp nests are treated and physically removed, ideally at dusk when workers are back at the nest rather than out foraging. Void-nesting yellowjackets are treated through the entrance so the colony is dealt with before anything is sealed.

Prevention
Residual treatment at former nest sites discourages rebuilding on the same eave, and we check the usual founding spots on each visit through spring and summer, which is when a nest is smallest and easiest to remove.

Under an eave, in the ground, or going into a hole in the wall. That distinction decides whether this is covered on your plan or quoted separately, and we will tell you which before we come out.
STEP 02
Identification On Site
We confirm the species and locate the nest properly, including checking whether a soffit or wall void is involved rather than treating what is visible.
STEP 03
Treatment And Removal
Nests are treated and removed, timed to dusk where practical so the whole colony is present. Void nests are treated through the entrance and left unsealed until activity has stopped.
STEP 04
Follow-Up And Prevention
Former nest sites get residual treatment, and the usual founding spots are checked on each scheduled visit through spring and summer.
