Most of the spiders in a Florida lanai are harmless, and several are actively useful. Golden silk orbweavers, jumping spiders, huntsman spiders and cellar spiders all eat other insects, and none of them are a medical concern. The honest position is that a spider you find outdoors is usually doing you a favour.
Two are worth taking seriously here, and both are widow spiders. The southern black widow is native. The brown widow is introduced and is now extremely common across central and southern Florida, often in exactly the places people reach without looking, such as the underside of patio furniture, mailboxes, meter boxes and the lip of a plant pot.
One correction worth making, because a lot of pest control marketing gets it wrong. The brown recluse is not established in Florida. Verified specimens turn up occasionally, almost always transported in, but a bite here is far more likely to be something else entirely. We would rather tell you that than sell against a spider that is not there.

Brown widows in particular favour sheltered undersides. The rim of a plant pot, the underside of a patio chair, the inside of a mailbox or a meter box. The risk is not that they are aggressive, because they are not, but that people reach into those spaces without looking.
Egg Sacs Multiply The Problem
A single widow egg sac can contain well over a hundred eggs, and brown widows produce sacs prolifically. Removing webs without removing sacs means the population is replaced within weeks, which is why sac removal is a specific part of the visit rather than incidental.

Spiders concentrate where prey concentrates, which in practice means exterior lighting, lanai screens and anywhere flying insects gather at night. A spider problem that keeps returning is usually an insect problem that has not been addressed.
